I have 26 years experience in Reflexology and 25 years experience in Indian Head Massage. I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists. I am also qualified in baby and toddler reflex.

I became interested in reflexology as a hobby treating family members. I soon realised the benefits of the treatment for many ailments and decided to become a fully qualified reflexologist.

I have a quiet and relaxing treatment room in my home in Blackwater and offer daytime or evening appointments Monday - Friday.

If you are wanting to give that special friend or family member a thoughtful present gift vouchers are available for reflexology and head massage.

I hope you have found this information helpful. If you would like to know more please read more sections on my website.

If you wish to discuss treatment or make an appointment please ring or e-mail me.

Thank you.

About Reflexology?

Reflexology is a form of holistic healing bringing the mind, body and spirit together. An imbalance in one of these will affect the whole.

Reflexology dates back to 2330BC in Egypt but it was developed in the West in 1913 by Dr William Fitzgerald as zone therapy.

Eunice Ingham developed zone therapy into reflexology in the 1930's.

The body is mapped out on the feet and the treatment is a pressure massage of the feet or hands stimulating reflex points of the body.

What conditions may it help?

This therapy encourages the body to heal and balance itself resulting in a feeling of wellbeing. It may help many conditions such as:

  • Sleep disorders
  • Migraine
  • Back or spinal problems (e.g. whiplash injury)
  • Fertility problems
  • Pregnancy
  • Arthritis
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Stress related illness
  • Anxiety

and many more conditions or purely relaxation.

What benefits can be expected?

Reflexology works in a very subtle way and may be beneficial for all age groups. Most people become very relaxed and have a sense of well-being after a treatment. Usually there will be an improvement in a condition after 2-3 treatments but bodies heal at different rates and reflexologist do not claim to cure or diagnose.

About Indian Head Massage

Massage is probably the oldest therapy and has been practiced for at least 5000 years. Indian Head Massage originated in India over 1,000 years ago but is now a mix of eastern and western techniques. Narendra Mehta after arriving in this country noticed that most massage stopped at the shoulders so he joined together the massage techniques used here and the massage he'd been taught at home and created the Indian Head Massage.

The massage lasts about 25 minutes working upper back, neck, shoulders, upper arms, scalp and face.

What conditions may it help?

  • Scalp and hair problems
  • Stress relief
  • Localised blood and lymphatic circulation
  • Eye strain
  • Relieve muscle tension
  • Boost immune system

What benefits can be expected?

There are no claims to cure but most people find this treatment very relaxing. It is a wonderful massage that helps relieve the tension and stress that fills our daily lives.

Typical Session:

I will ask a few questions concerning health and medical history and then begin the treatment.

Reflexology

A typical treatment is usually 50-60 minutes. I use a medium to firm pressure during therapy followed by a short oiled foot massage. Most clients experience drowsiness half-way through treatment and some even sleep however some clients enjoy a chat.

4 - 6 weekly treatments are recommended depending on condition. Most people prefer to have regular treatments after there initial course of treatment to help maintain health and well-being.

Baby and toddler sessions are much shorter and fewer as I instruct the parent on how to give their own treatment to their child so usually only 3 treatments are required.

Indian Head Massage

This treatment lasts about 25 minutes.

The client is asked to remove upper garments and given a towel to wrap around the body. I use a small amount of oil on the back and shoulders and massage with gentle movements.

Regular treatments are recommended but not essential.
